Bokbunja refers to a fruit of Rubus Coreanus, which is arching shrubs in the family Rosaceae. It blooms pink-colored flowers in May and its fruits are harvested in June and July, which become ingredients for drinks, e.g., juice and alcohol beverage, as well as for medicines. In oriental medicines, the bokbunja is known as enhancing visual acuity and invigorating tonic effects. The nomenclature is Rubus Coreanus and its English name is black raspberry. The bokbunja grows up in sunny foothills, whose major habitat covers East Asian region, including Korea.
